The pills in the weekly box don't line up.

The fridge is almost empty. You call every night, and you still lie awake wondering who would notice if they fell.

You don’t want to take their life away. You just want them safe. That’s what Meadowlark is for.

Someone notices. Caregivers here see them every day, help with medications, and call you when something changes.

They keep their life. Their own apartment, their car, their church, their weekly hair appointment. Coffee and cookies with friends at 3.

You stay their family. We handle the night checks and the meals. You get to go back to simply being their daughter or son.

“My favorite memory is that she would sit next to the nurses station for her afternoon cookie and Coke just for the company.” Alisa H.

Or maybe the house has just gotten quiet.

Cooking for one isn’t much fun anymore. The stairs feel steeper than they did. You’re fine, mostly, and you’d like to keep it that way.

Here, you keep your car, your church, and your friends. You can go home for a weekend, or the whole summer. We take the cooking, the cleaning, and the nights, and someone’s here if you need a hand.

And if the hospital is sending them home Thursday

Call us today. We’ll tell you what’s possible before the discharge, not after.

Planning Your Move | FAQ

Making it work for your family

What’s included, what to expect, and how we help families plan.

What’s included

  • A private apartment, with utilities, cable, and maintenance
  • Three meals a day, made from scratch
  • Housekeeping and laundry
  • Activities, outings, and rides to local appointments

Residents live here month to month, with no long-term contract. Care is priced by the help each person needs.

Move-in fee. There’s a one-time move-in fee of $2,000, which isn’t refundable. It covers getting the apartment ready for your loved one and refreshing it between residents. We’d rather you hear that number from us now than find it in paperwork later.

Planning Your Move

How families plan

Most families use a mix of savings, income, and long-term care insurance.

If your loved one has a long-term care policy, we can handle the care forms and invoices for you, for a small additional fee.

Medicaid. We welcome both private-pay residents and people who may qualify for Medicaid, based on eligibility and availability. Nebraska’s Medicaid waiver covers care, and room and board comes from the resident’s own income. We’ll explain it all plainly, before anything is signed.

Let's talk it through

We'd love to hear from you

Tell us a little about your loved one, and we’ll help you understand your options.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions families ask

The things families ask us most. If yours isn’t here, call (308) 784-4100. We’re happy to talk it through.

Deciding

Most families call after a fall or a hospital stay, but the signs usually show up sooner: missed pills, skipped meals, confusion, or a spouse who’s worn out. If you’re asking, it’s not too early to talk. Moving while someone is still fairly independent means they get to choose, settle in, and make friends.

No. Noticing that home isn’t safe anymore is one of the most caring things a family can do. You’ll still visit, still decide together, and still know them best. We just take care of the things no family can do around the clock.

That’s so common, and their feelings matter. Start small. Come have coffee and cookies with us at 3, take a tour, or try a short stay. Seeing it in person often changes the conversation.

No. A nursing home provides daily skilled nursing care, which assisted living doesn’t do under Nebraska law. Nursing homes can also use mechanical lifts, which we don’t. Here, residents live in their own apartments and keep their routines. As we like to tell residents: this is your home.

Care

We try to keep residents here with us as long as we can. They may move down the hall for more help or for memory care, but it’s the same staff and the same building.

Here’s the honest boundary. Residents need to be able to move with help from one person, because we don’t use mechanical lifts. If your loved one comes to need more than that and qualifies for hospice, hospice comes here and they stay. If they don’t qualify, they’ll need to move to a higher level of care. We’ll tell you early and help you plan, so it’s never a surprise.

Our caregivers are here day and night, every night. If anything happens, you’ll hear from us.

Costs and planning

Your monthly cost depends on the apartment and the help your loved one needs. There’s also a one-time $2,000 move-in fee, which covers getting the apartment ready. Call us and we’ll give you real numbers, usually in one conversation.

Ask us before you move in, and we’ll explain plainly what happens if a private-pay resident later qualifies for Medicaid. It’s a better conversation to have early than late.

People sometimes call us “the fancy one” because of the building. Here’s the plain version: there’s the one-time $2,000 move-in fee, and after that you pay month to month, with no long-term contract. We also welcome families who may qualify for Medicaid. Call us and we’ll tell you what it would actually cost for your situation.

That’s a question for an elder-law attorney and your Area Agency on Aging, and it’s worth asking before you decide. We’re glad to point you to local contacts.

The new ownership

Oliver Pahila has owned Meadowlark Pointe since 2026.

No. Meadowlark changed owners, and we’re staying right here. With so many care homes closing across Nebraska, we understand why families ask.

What changed: a new owner, a new website, and Medicaid is now an option in memory care as well as assisted living. What stayed: our Executive Director, our care team, the building, and the way we care for your family. If anything important changes, you’ll hear it from us first.

Moving in

Call us and we’ll tell you what’s open today, in both assisted living and memory care. If a hospital discharge is coming up, call right away, even if it’s days away.

Residents furnish their own apartments, so bring whatever makes it feel like home: a favorite chair, the family photos, the quilt from the bed. Cats and dogs are welcome with a pet fee, as long as your loved one can care for their pet.

The first few weeks can be hard, and some residents miss home. That’s normal. Visit often, keep calling, and we’ll tell you honestly how they’re settling in.

Everyday life

We call when anything changes, and you can call us any time. Our staff and administrators build real, trusting relationships with families, and we help with the little things too, like picking up what your mom needs.
